From the USC School of Music Website:
Each February hundreds of talented high school band students from throughout the nation converge on the USC campus to participate in a weekend of music-making and learning. Founded in 1976 by James K. Copenhaver, the UofSC Band Clinic is among the nation's longest-running and most prestigious honor band events.
Schedule Overview
Students arrive on the USC campus Thursday, February 14 in the afternoon to register and audition for ensemble/chair placement. Students selected receive audition information in their acceptance materials. Also on Thursday, students have the option to take a School of Music and/or USC campus tour, and meet with current students and faculty to learn about performance opportunities with the USC Bands. Later that evening, students enjoy a concert featuring the Left Bank Jazz Band, the USC Percussion Ensemble, and the Palmetto Pans steel drum band.
On Friday morning, students begin rehearsing with their bands. That afternoon students participate in master classes with USC School of Music applied music faculty. Concerts on Friday feature USC Symphonic Winds and USC Wind Ensemble.
Rehearsals continue on Saturday, and concerts include the Stephenson High School Wind Ensemble, Stratford High School Wind Orchestra, and Palmetto Concert Band.
Students have final rehearsals and dress rehearsals on Sunday, culminating with the final concert on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Koger Center for the Arts.
* Note: Students selected to participate must be present at all events throughout the weekend. Students with conflicts during the weekend should not be nominated.
