What is the best way to get my child an instrument?
Obtaining an instrument from a local school music dealer will offer you a variety of flexible rental/purchase plans, along with the peace of mind that comes from knowing your instrument is teacher-approved, MENC-certified, and appropriate for school use. Local school music dealers work closely with music educators and schools to ensure you have an instrument that will be durable, playable and repairable so that your child has the best possible chance of success. We also work with educators to be sure that we offer you all the textbooks and other accessories you will need.
How do I choose the right school music dealer? Here are some questions to ask:
What discounts are offered? Are there flexible rental/purchase options offered? Must I have a major credit card in order to rent?
Are rentals done in-house, or will my personal information be shared with other locations elsewhere in the country?
Can I return this instrument at any time, or switch to another with full credit if the need should arise? Am I able to pay my contract off early for a discount? Will I have credit towards a step-up instrument if my child continues to progress?
Do 100% of my rental or lease fees apply to the purchase? Are there any hidden charges or “required” coverages?
Will there be a Rental Program offered at my child’s school; and if so, will the instruments be delivered that night? What will I need to bring with me?
Does the music company visit and support my child’s school on a regular basis?
