Our 20 Point Instrument Inspection
Woodwind Instrument Repairs you can trust!
Musical Innovations’ In-House Repair Shop performs a 20 point inspection for all instruments. Each instrument is thoroughly sanitized after all repairs and inspections are completed. We pick up and deliver repairs, free of charge, for most schools in SC and NC.
Woodwinds:
Mouthpieces, head joints, bocals and saxophone necks are clean and sanitized.
Mouthpieces are inspected for chips or scratches that impede proper performance.
Ligatures are examined for proper fit and function.
Flute head corks have proper position and fit.
Flute head joint and body dents, cosmetic and non-cosmetic, are addressed.
The body and keys of all woodwind instruments are clean.
Keys are straight and aligned.
Screws are properly tightened so rod screws move freely.
Instrument posts have proper alignment and fit.
Springs have proper tension/performance.
Pads are inspected: reseated, leveled, or replaced if necessary.
Corks replaced if missing or worn/damaged.
The position of all adjustment screws is correct.
All tenons and sockets fit correctly.
Tenons and sockets are clean and sanitized.
Saxophone end plugs are replaced when missing.
Keys that were removed from the body are clean and re-oiled before re-assembly.
Mechanism pivot points are oiled.
Case latches are secure and case is clean.
The instrument is play-tested by a specialist.
